Class Profile

The year 5 class comprises of 23 students, 4 of these students are considered to have special needs and require modifications to the learning sequence.

These learners are computer literate to a year 5 standard including internet use and research skills. The students enjoy creating and working with ICT so the culminating task involves designing a product and presenting their work using a wiki space.

One male student identifies as an Aboriginal learner, therefore the Learning Manager will ensure that no information taught conflicts with this student’s beliefs and give the student the option of researching significant Indigenous Australians. These decisions will be made in consultation with the learner’s guardians.

One male student has been identified as a student with learning difficulties and has been allocated additional teacher aide time. The student takes longer to understand some concepts within the classroom than other learners. The teacher aide will assist this learner with organising his thoughts and information.

Two students in the cohort have been identified as displaying gifted and or talented traits. These students often finish tasks before other learners and are able to work unsupervised on most tasks. These learners they will be given independent computer time for additional research, and asked to present their findings to the learning manager at regular intervals. The Learning Manager will communicate with these students to ensure their needs are being met and will assign additional and or more challenging tasks as required.
